PSA Art Awakenings’ youth teams, in conjunction with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), are excited to offer the Tucson and Yuma communities its enhanced services focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for youth, 6 to 17. The program is centered on the use of Trauma Informed Care art therapy and/or therapeutic expressive arts using three evidence-based approaches: Social Skills Training, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Training, and DIRFloortime.
The staff work with youth, their families, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders to improve the overall behavioral health of youth and families. As a specialty provider, Art Awakenings offers individual, family, and group therapy for youth, ages 6-17, who are enrolled in the behavioral health system. The specific therapy for this program is geared towards assisting the youth and their families to manage the challenges of ASD. Staff offer in-home and in-office intakes, family sessions and support, one-on-one sessions and participate CFTs. Youth exhibition opportunities, and family and friends celebrations are also offered.
Staff are Master’s level and Artistic Behavioral Health Specialists (ABHS) or Art Therapists with a background in art and specialized training in ASD. Family support specialists are also part of programming.
